Right, I love Alice in the Wonderland, it's trippy, and the fact that Tim Burton (my favourite director) is directing this film has made me happy and I came across some pictures of the film, damn, it looks sweet

I have pretty high hopes. I mean, Rickman as the Caterpillar and Depp as the Hatter? It'd be hard to screw that up.

I have hopes for it! I'm really looking forward to it, so hopefully Tim Burton can use his magic and make sure it won't fail.

I went "Squee!!!" when I saw this. It looks absolutely fantastic!
I really hope it comes through. Too many movies disappear into the "well, it won't make enough money, so let's chuck it" category :(

I found the Burton Charlie and the Chocolate Factory insufferable. That was more because of Depp's interpretation of the character, not because of Burton's visuals, which were awesome. I'm thinking this will be better though.
Has anyone seen Jan Svankmajer's stop motion Alice?

It looks nneat, Tim Burton usually delivers interesting stuff. Coraline was AWESOME!

Tim Burton didn't do Coraline... but it was from the makers of Nightmare Before Christmas, just not him. XD

Whatever, I saw his name in it somewhere. Didn't he produce it or something, whatever. It had a lot of similarities to his style.

It was probably made by the same company that created Nightmare Before Christmas. Henry Selick did both movies too. Tim Burton's name isn't on Coraline at all.

Tim Burton didn't do Coraline. He's working on this project while producing 9 I believe. That said, I can't wait to see this movie just to see what Tim Burton has in store for us.

Slightly off topic, but 9 looks really great, too. Seriously am so excited to see both of these films.
Two things, though: (1) As always, the Tweedles scare the living shit out of me. (2) Please say that I'm not the only one who thinks that Depp as the Mad Hatter looks insanely like Elijah Wood. o_O

I guess I'm the odd man out when I say I'm a bit on the skeptical side for this film! I like Tim Burton, but I think he's overrated and his visuals have become a bit predictable. I dunno, I guess some people will see that as a good thing because it's his "trademark" or what not, but I fail to find any sort of warmth or magic in his work anymore (off the top of my head, "Edward Scissorhands" is the only one I still find absolutely magical). To top it off, I just don't find the premise for the film very catching so far; maybe the trailer will change my mind.
I also find Helena Bonham Carter insufferable and without any emotional range. XD I do love Rickman though, but so far, I'm only expecting any sort of emotional range from Wasikowska and Hathaway, based on their roles.
And as mentioned, Tim Burton had nothing to do with Coraline. It was advertised as "from the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas," since people automatically think TNbC = Burton. Burton produced TNbC, but he didn't direct it.

Euphony, I thought just the same haha
I went "Who the fuck is he? That midget from Lord of the Rings?" and checked the IMDB for the actors and I saw Johnny Depp name's as mad hatter.
Seriously, how the hell can he look completely different? lol
I went to the Alice in the Wonderland's official website and apparently the release date for the film is in 2010
A long while, but the time they uses to make the film is optimised to give the viewer a forgettable time when they leave the theater, I think this movie will be truely great (come on, look at the scenary lol)
I hope the musicial score would be awesome too, trippy :D

I'm in agreement with Elle, Tim burton has a habit of doing the same thing over and over, the music always sounds similar and although he has a unique style it doesnt really change. I dont deny that he is a great director, im just always skeptical when he releases films cos i expect the same ol same ol. Nightmare before christmas was classic but then when you see it more than once and hear people ranting about it...it just loses appeal. The screenshots look good, but as mentioned...looks kinda predictable.

Since i was very young i've wanted Tim Burton to make Alice in Wonderland...his style is his and his alone and he can give movies such an unbelievable atmosphere. I can't wait for it

I know right? I totally did a double take when I first saw the picture. He even has the same little gap in his front teeth! XD

I thought he did look a lot like Elijah Wood. Very strange. I hope it is over-the-top trippy and drug reference. I hope he goes "R" like in the headless horsemen one.
